Nicknamed "A-Rod," Andy Roddick is one of the most decorated American tennis players of all time. Currently, Roddick is #20 on the ATP career singles wins list (#9 for Americans). He was honored by the ATP as the 2003 Player of the Year when he became the youngest American to end the year at No. 1 in the ATP Rankings. For a decade, from 2000 - 2010, Andy was continually ranked in the top 10. He led the United States led to a Davis Cup victory in 2007 in Portland, Oregon. On September 24th, 2004 Andy served a record breaking 155 mile per hour serve.

Roddick is one of only ten players to amass $20 million in career prize money.


Beyond the court, Andy has become a mainstream athlete celebrity. He hosted Saturday Night Live on November 8, 2003, becoming second tennis player (Chris Evert) and only 12th athlete (at the time) in three decades to do so. He won the 2004 ESPY for Best Male Tennis Player and was nominated again in 2005. Roddick was then selected in People Magazine's 2006 "Sexiest Man Alive" issue. In May 2006, he was named on President George W. Bush’s President’s Council of Sports and Fitness and was featured on cover of "Men's Fitness" in summer of 2007. In addition to being featured in a range of publications and appearing on popular television programming, Andy has headlined national advertising campaigns for Lacoste, Babolat, Rolex, American Express and Lexus as well as participating in promotional spots for ESPN Sportscenter. Andy's celebrity status increased to a new level when he married swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker (Apr. 17, 2009) in Austin, TX.

Andy Roddick is also very passionate about philanthrohy. In 2001 Andy began the Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF), a charity dedicated to "Serving Children Today for Tomorrow." The goal of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all children based on the principles of respect for family, education and morality. Since its inception the Foundation has raised over 10 million dollars and continues to grow. His foundation is supported by Elton John, Lionel Richie, Cindy Crawford and Donna Summer among other celebrities...The new Andy Roddick Youth tennis program in San Antonio, Texas assists 150 disadvantaged children participating plus providing four elementary scholarships to private schools in addition to three university scholarships. His efforts led to winning the 2004 ATP Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award. In 2010 Andy and Brooklyn teamed up together for the Special Olympics where Brooklyn was a co-host at the Opening Ceremonies and Andy both presented and held a tennis clinic.

Father, Jerry, is an investor, and mother, Blanche, is director of the Andy Roddick Foundation. Brother John was All-American tennis player at University of Georgia (1996-98), and now operates a tennis academy in San Antonio. Oldest brother Lawrence, a chiropractor in San Antonio, was an accomplished spring board diver and a member of U.S. Senior National Team. Roddick is a University of Nebraska football fan who who moved to Austin, Texas at age 4 1/2, then moved to Boca Raton at age 10. Roddick returned to Austin in November 2003 and played varsity basketball in high school alongside Davis Cup teammate Mardy Fish, who trained and lived with Roddick in 1999. His hobbies include listening to music (favorites include Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer) and watching movies (favorite is Shawshank Redemption).

Did you know?

Andy Roddick has another hobby.  Throwing out the first pitch at baseball games.  He has thrown out the first pitch at several Major League Baseball games, including Game 2 of 2003 Oakland-Boston playoff series.
