SAP Open Kids Day
Kids Take Center Court At The SAP Open
SAP Open Kids Day is back for the 17th year! This FREE event will take place on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at HP Pavilion at San Jose.
The 2012 SAP Open (the premier men’s professional tennis tournament in Northern California) will feature the 2011 SAP Open Champion Milos Raonic (CAN), top-10 talent Gael Monfils (FRA), top Americans Andy Roddick and James Blake, as well as many others.
SAP Open Kids Day features an educational format including a demonstration by professional tennis players and information on health and fitness and sportsmanship.
In addition to the on-court presentation, the SAP Open hosts an essay contest for all students scheduled to attend the event. Twelve lucky students will win a prize package and be invited down to the court to meet the pros and participate in various tennis drills.
Event Schedule
8:30 a.m. Doors Open - school groups check-in and enter at the North Entrance of HP Pavilion at San Jose.
9:15 - 10:40 a.m. Educational Program - featuring videos, music, drills, and professional tennis players.
11 a.m. Featured Quarterfinal Match begins - Use your newly acquired skills to watch, enjoy, and understand a professional tennis match.
Noon - All guests return to school. If the match is not over by Noon, you are welcome to stay and watch from the Upper level seating area until the featured match is completed.
Exciting Features
- Videos, skits, spirit award, students in audience captured on the video board.
- 12 winners of the essay competition will be recognized.
- Essay winners will be presented with Yonex tennis racquets!
- Professional tennis players will demonstrate elements of the game.
- Learn the importance of physical fitness, nutrition, and sportsmanship.
- Tennis etiquette will be demonstrated in an easily understandable fashion.
