World class men’s tennis professionals, defined by the prestigious roster of past champions, including: Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Arthur Ashe, Stephan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, Jimmy Connors, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Greg Rusedski, Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and SAP Ambassador and three-time champion Andy Roddick. 

What

The SAP Open is managed and operated by Sharks Sports & Entertainment and is one of 62 tournaments in 32 countries on 6 continents on the ATP World Tour. The ATP World Tour was launched on January 1, 1990 as the partnership of players and tournaments, replacing the former Men's Tennis Council as the governing body for the men's professional tennis circuit. There are 1.8 billion television viewers and 3.5 million people who annually attend ATP World Tour events. San Jose is the first American stop on the ATP World Tour.

The "Open" in SAP Open means that anyone could enter this tournament and win it. Prior to the main draw event, there is a pre-qualifying and a qualifying tournament. The pre-qualifying tournament is open to any male player of any playing level.

When

The SAP Open will be played for the 124th year, beginning Monday, February 13 through Sunday, February 19, 2012.  It is the second oldest men’s professional tennis tournament in the United States.  Started in 1889 at Old Del Monte Lodge in Monterey, CA.  The tournament predates the French, Italian and Australian Opens.

Qualifying: Feb 11-12, 2012 (Courtside Club, Los Gatos, CA)

Prequalifying: Feb 6-10, 2012 (Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club, Los Gatos, CA)

Where

HP Pavilion at San Jose, CA.  The event is the only North American ATP tournament hosted in a sports arena.
